SPECIALIST SCIENTIST: CLIMATE CHANGE ANALYSIS REF NO: 151021/01

SALARY : R1 246 842 per annum, (All-inclusive OSD profits package)

REQUIREMENTS : PhD in Science or applicable qualification. Ten (10) years applicable scientific journey after BSc. Compulsory registration with SACNASP as a expert scientist. A valid driver’s license (Attach copies). Must have labored on local weather trade associated research or research. e.g. Environmental Sciences, Meteorology, Climatology and Climate modelling. Knowledge on and a clear perception of built-in water useful resource administration and/or water associated sciences will be an introduced advantage. A thorough grasp of local weather science. International and countrywide local weather trade policies, water resources and the water zone as a whole. Excellent interpersonal and verbal exchange abilities (verbal and written). Good liaison and organizational skills. Financial administration skills, appreciation of the applicable acts of parliament (climate exchange and water resources). Office administration and undertaking management. Knowledge and journey of the use of digital verbal exchange systems and internet. Applicants should be inclined to tour nationally and internationally as required.

DUTIES : Conduct lookup on future local weather projections and trends, consisting of downscaling of fashions and detection of tendencies on structures / water assets (Regionally and nationally). Provide scientific statistics on water and local weather trade affects to the Department and the water quarter in general. Liaise with
relevant lookup establishments and centres of expertise on local weather exchange and water. Be inclined to write and current scientific papers for countrywide and worldwide forums. Represent the Department in all countrywide and global boards associated to local weather alternate and water. Develop and replace through
applicable local weather modelling a country wide and regional popularity quo evaluation of local weather exchange and water resources. Give coaching in the improvement of local weather exchange threat and vulnerability assessments for the a number of systems. Develop records and expertise base on local weather alternate and water and encourage the series of applicable records to help such development. Supervise, manipulate and mentor all scientific managers in the directorate.
